Beyond breathing techniques

Pranayama is more than a collection of breathing exercises. In this module we explore the relationship between breath, attention and Prana, while building a practical understanding of how breath practices can be introduced progressively and responsibly.

The training combines personal practice, theory and teaching methodology. You will learn how to prepare the body and breath, how different techniques can be sequenced, and how intensity and duration can be adapted to the individual and to the context of a yoga class.

Topics we explore

Foundations of Prana and Pranayama · preparatory breathing practices · breath awareness and functional breathing · Nadi Shodhana and balancing practices · energising and calming techniques · Mudras and Bandhas in context · sequencing a Pranayama practice · teaching language and pacing · relevant considerations and contraindications · integrating Pranayama into asana, meditation and yoga classes.

Who is it for?

This module is especially useful for yoga teachers and experienced practitioners who want to deepen their own practice and teach breathwork with more confidence and nuance. You do not need to be enrolled in the full 300h programme to express interest in the next module.

Next Pranayama Training
